December Highlight XD

Tuesday, December 30, 2008 Posted by Aimee 6 comments
Well.. December!! What can I say? December is the most eventful month of the year, I suppose. We have this Christmas day and the Christmas parties with friends, with families, outings, etc.
And on the good-student side, we had this so-called seminar where we were divided into groups of five and our class consists of only 25 students. So that leaves us with only five groups. Every group is to conduct a company study of the three different industries assigned by the teacher. It was a tiring activity with, you know, finding industries and contacting them and they were so stubborn that they won't let us observe their processes and all. So we have to find another and so on.
Also we have this last-minute attitude. We were like "pressured". ha ha ha! Whatever.
To make things short...We found three companies -- one for leather, gelatin, and feed mill. It was all fun. And the seminar was indeed a SUCCESS!(December 17, 2008) ha ha ha... And I had a treat to myself that day :)

[I had a doughnut and ice cream. Yan lang kasi yung available that time. ha ha ha! medyo weird yung mukha ko dyan kasi hindi nag-count yung photographer.. hahaha.. oh well!]

My Latest Read :)

Meet Ashley Patterson, the brainy, babelicious "computer whiz" and confused heroine of Tell Me Your Dreams. Although she has a cushy job at Global Computer Graphics, a fast-growing start-up in Silicon Valley, her life falls short of fulfilling. She's lonely, shy, and absolutely convinced she's being stalked. What's worse, the only sympathetic ear around is her father, Dr. Patterson, the heartless heart surgeon, who has the charm of an electric eel and the compassion of a tarantula. Given her options, Ashley looks to the heavens for support and offers up an ultimatum to the Almighty: "I'll make a deal with you, God. If it doesn't rain, it means that everything is all right, that I've been imagining everything." Of course, it starts raining buckets just paragraphs later, setting off a car alarm of an omen about our computer cutie's fate.Enter Toni Prescott and Alette Peters. They both work with Ashley at Global Computer Graphics, but the similarities end there. Toni is a saucy, British vixen with a penchant for Internet dating and discotheques. La bella Italiana Alette, on the other hand, is a wannabe artist who prefers quiet, dreamy weekends withbeefcake painters. Reminiscent of junior high school, Toni and Alette do their best to keep Ashley out of their cool clique, but find it difficult when a string of murders irrevocably binds them together.Based on a true story and laden with realistic details--not to mention a whopper of an ending--Tell Me Your Dreams is vintage Sheldon. However, there is one necessary caveat: avoid moviegoer types who insist on telling you the entire plot before you have a chance to see it. You should be doing this anyway, but take extra care with this book. Once the surprise ending is blown, so is the fun in reading it.

Anak ng DAR chief: ‘KAMI ANG SINUGOD AT SINAKTAN!’

Sunday, December 28, 2008 Posted by Aimee 1 comment
I saw this certain news online about the incident in Valley Golf and Country Club. Actually I posted the Dela Paz's daughter's side. It's the preceding post to this one. and I have to say that the mayor was plain rude. Who the hell he is to say, "Hindi nila kami kilala! Sabihin mo nga sa kanila kung sino ako!"

Who the hell was he anyway?!?!

We can see that he's just so proud. And people elected him as the mayor. Well, a public servant. What a shame to our country..

And in Abante Tonite's site, i saw this.
Well, judge for yourself!

It's just so "EEEWWW"

Every time I surf the net, first thing I open talaga is my plurk account. Na-shock talaga ako dahil one of the plurkers there posted something. It goes to all readers, sabi basahin daw namin. Tapos binasa ko rin. It was a blog post pala by her former classmate. I just can't imagine her pain. Her father daw kasi and her younger brother binugbog. Well, it was a politician--the mayor of Masiu City, Lanao del Sur-- and his flightmates who attacked them. And to think that I am a Filipino, it's so shameful!! They're using their power to attack a 56-year old father and a 14-year old boy. Sinabi pa, "Hindi nila kami kilala! Sabihin mo nga sa kanila kung sino ako!"

Pride is taking over them and it's just plain rude.
Here is the rest of the story if you want to know more. [click here!] And if you please, spread the news.
I hope this reaches the media para mabigyan ng justice yung pamilya nila.

Eco-Friendly Water-Powered Clock Blue

Thursday, December 18, 2008 Posted by Aimee , No comments

Save money on batteries!
This clock is powered by water!
The epitome of a greener gadget.
With sustainable design and practical function in mind, this Eco-Friendly clock is actually powered by the very salt and water mixture that occupies 70% of the earth’s surface!
Without the need for batteries, the Eco-Friendly clock keeps perfect time as electrodes harvest energy from the water.
All you have to do to make the clock run is fill its tank up with tap water and depending on the particles that are in your water system you may need to add a small amount of table salt.
We also recommend that you cut a lemon in half and squeeze some lemon juice into the water tank.
This procedure will enhance the power generated by the clock and make it work more efficiently.
You need to change the water in the tank every so often and add water when it evaporates.
The clock has a memory function that remembers the time as you change the water. Save on the cost of buying batteries! Measuring approximately 4” high and 3.5” wide, this playful yet eco-conscious timepiece is truly what’s next in going green.
Do your part and participate in the fight against global warming today!

Change at Tumblr :)

Thursday, December 18, 2008 Posted by Aimee No comments

The moment I saw this photo at tumbler, it kept getting into my mind. I find it so simple, yet so deep, so poignant :)

Well, I just remembered that I made a facebook account pala last April 2008. Ngayon ko lang naalala. If not for Eugene seeing my photo there, I wouldn't have remembered na nag-sign up pala ako.. ha ha ha! The silly that I am... Well, okay, you can visit my profile here! I haven't customized it yet. Eh sa na-bo-bore kasi ako dun! Updates are flooding and it bugs me. :)

Anyways, I made my Tumblr account an hour ago. It's a simple blogging tool.
Well, I already "reblogged" some of the images I found in icanread. Statement images, mostly. XD

Enjoy! :)

I Do Not Love You

Saturday, December 06, 2008 Posted by Aimee No comments
I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz,
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that never blooms
but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way

than this: where I does not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.

Ode to the Book

Saturday, December 06, 2008 Posted by Aimee No comments
When I close a book
I open life.
I hear
faltering cries
among harbours.
Copper ignots
slide down sand-pits
to Tocopilla.
Night time.
Among the islands
our ocean
throbs with fish,
touches the feet, the thighs,
the chalk ribs
of my country.
The whole of night
clings to its shores, by dawn
it wakes up singing
as if it had excited a guitar.

The ocean's surge is calling.
The wind
calls me
and Rodriguez calls,
and Jose Antonio--
I got a telegram
from the "Mine" Union
and the one I love
(whose name I won't let out)
expects me in Bucalemu.

No book has been able
to wrap me in paper,
to fill me up
with typography,
with heavenly imprints
or was ever able
to bind my eyes,
I come out of books to people orchards
with the hoarse family of my song,
to work the burning metals
or to eat smoked beef
by mountain firesides.
I love adventurous
books,
books of forest or snow,
depth or sky
but hate
the spider book
in which thought
has laid poisonous wires
to trap the juvenile
and circling fly.
Book, let me go.
I won't go clothed
in volumes,
I don't come out
of collected works,
my poems
have not eaten poems--
they devour
exciting happenings,
feed on rough weather,
and dig their food
out of earth and men.
I'm on my way
with dust in my shoes
free of mythology:
send books back to their shelves,
I'm going down into the streets.
I learned about life
from life itself,
love I learned in a single kiss
and could teach no one anything
except that I have lived
with something in common among men,
when fighting with them,
when saying all their say in my song.
